Impalapalooza 1997

*Impalapalooza* ON THE GREEN was held in Bowling Green Kentucky in June of 1997. *This was the annual gathering of the 1994-1996 Impala SS owners and sponsored by NAISSO, The National Association of Impala SS Owners.* Impalas from as far away as California and from all points of the US were in attendance at the annual event. It was a chance for Impala owners to get together and show their cars and meet other owners. The weekend with filled with technical seminars, a car show where Impala owners competed for trophies and prizes. On the first night much time was spent in the parking lot where Impalas SS owners from all parts of the US were meeting for the first time. Many have corresponded with each other over the Internet through the Impala Digest which many owners are active participants. On the Friday the first day there were a variety of technical seminars including a several hour talk by Mark McPhail from Chevrolet. There were also clinics on how to install different mods (Bolt on performance & appearance accessories) for the Impala. Several vendors were on hand to sell their goods and offer owners advice and assistance. On Saturday it was off to the raceway for the Super Chevy car show and a day at the quarter mile track. The Impala SS group had the infield for showing their cars. Even a brief mud producing rain did not seem to have much effect on the Impala SS group. NAISSO was also on hand with the Impala SS Super Store selling a variety of Impala accessories and GM parts. Several Impala SS owners had a chance to make several passes down the track. It was crowed that day since there were other groups using the track also. The Impala group did take the opportunity to make a pass down the track in parade fashion. Another highlight of the weekend was a trip to the National Corvette Museum.
